Who we are
Habitat Hands is a small local business offering gardening services throughout the Upper and Mid Blue Mountains.
We are a small team of gardeners who love to help people feel reconnected to their gardens by creating spaces that not only look good but also support the potential for a thriving habitat to be created, or if already present, maintained.
Whether we are gardening from the lens of habitat creation or simply tidying up and refreshing a space, our main focus is to leave a garden feeling like the plants, animals, and humans can all thrive there together, happily.
Gardens are ecosystems full of interactions between everything from the tiniest microbes to the surrounding plants, native wildlife, and even our pets - Therefore, we take a thoughtful approach to our gardening practices by using techniques that consider the health of microorganisms, the soil, insect life, surrounding plants, native wildlife, and our beloved pets and how they will all respond to one another.
Our practices include the use of planet friendly herbicides, pesticides and fungicides, avoiding plants that are toxic or allergens to our clients and their pets, and choosing techniques that are in the best interest of the environment and our clients.
Whether we are attending a regular garden tidy-up, weeding, mowing, planting, or any of our other services we offer - we enjoy taking part in restoring tired spaces into ones that are exciting and energising again!
In short, we’re gardeners for people who care about animals, the earth, and making their outdoor spaces feel special again.

“It was such a pleasure to sink one’s hands into the warm earth, to feel at one’s fingertips the possibilities of the new season.”
Habitat Hands was founded by Brauton Heathwilliams— a passionate gardener, environmentalist, animal rights advocate, and wildlife carer. Brauton brings a rich and diverse background to every project, combining practical garden care with a deep understanding of ecosystems and the life they support.
Her experience spans horticulture, environmental monitoring, wildlife rescue, furniture making, artistic painting, as well as a professional past as a chef; fueling her love for homegrown food and nutrient-rich gardens. With her experience in furniture making, she brings confidence with tools, machinery, and an ability to craft garden creations. As an artistic painter, Brauton also carries a strong sense of design and detail into every space she cultivates.
As a licensed wildlife carer, she offers the unique ability to read and understand the patterns of native wildlife. This allows her to design gardens that either attract or gently deter specific species—ensuring safe, respectful spaces where humans and animals can coexist in harmony.
Brauton is insured, holds a White Card, WWVP clearance, and a current Police Check, offering clients peace of mind along with her expertise. With every garden being as unique as its owner, Brauton draws on her diverse skill set to create beautiful, functional, and meaningful outdoor spaces that honour both nature and the people who care for it.
